Species Description
Widespread but restricted to coasts throughout England, north and south Wales, south Scotland and the east coast of Ireland; elsewhere it is rare. Habitat includes: muddy / sandy saltmarshes, intertidal pools, creeks, stands on ungrased saltings, coastal rocks, cliffs etc. Growing habit: Evergreen Perennial low shrub. Height: Up to 75 cm. Flowers: July to September. It has increased its range massively, notably spreading further north. Chromosomes: 2n=36. Other names include: Purslane Orach, Halimione portulacoides, Obione portulacoides.
