Species Description
Scattered and local around coasts of Scotland. Habitat includes: Disturbed places such as roadsides, paths, cultivated land, sandy beaches, sand dunes, coastal shingle etc. Growing habit: Annual. Height: Up to 1 m. Flowers: May to October.

Procumbent to scrambling heterophyllous annual to 1m; achene 3-4.5mm, shorter to very slightly longer than perianth, dull; 2n=40. Native; similar places to P. aviculare; scattered round coasts of Scotland (commonest sp. of genus in Shetland).
Key: - Larger leaves >5mm wide; tepals oblong-obovate, overlapping almost to apex - Larger leaves obovate to narrowly so, with petioles well exerted from stipules; achene >3mm
