Species Description
Widespread but local throughout the UK. It has greatly declined throughout Britain. Habitat includes: ponds, lakes, ditches, rhynes, marshes, fens, dune-slacks etc. Growing habit: Perennial. Height: up to 50 cm. Flowers: June to September.

Flowering stems usually erect, arising from basal leaf-rosette, with 6-20 flowers per whorl; flowers mostly 12-15(18)mm across; petals not overlapping at anthesis; achenes ≤45, not papillose, in head about 8cm across. Scattered over most of British Isles.
