Species Description

Stace 4:

E. glabrescens Jord. - Glabrous Whitlowgrass.

Plant subglabrous to sparsely hairy with 1-many stems to 9cm; fruit oblanceolate to elliptic, more or less flat, 3-6mm, 1.5-4x as long as wide, with 20-60 seeds; 2n=48-56. Native; habitat and distribution as in E. verna; less common but as frequent in North as in South.

Key:

  • Leaves and lower parts of stems subglabrous to moderately hairy, green; petioles ≥1/2 as long as leaf blades; seeds 0.5-0.8mm
  • Petioles 1.5-2.5x as long as leaf-blades; petals bifid ≤1/2 way to base; usually subglabrous
