Hydrocharis morsus-ranae L. - Frogbit.
Main stems are floating stolons to 50(100)cm forming over-wintering terminal buds in autumn; leaves 1.6-5cm across; flowers 2-3cm across; petals white with basal yellow blotch; fruits rarely forming; 2n=28. Native; in ponds, canals and ditches; locally frequent in England, very scattered in Wales and Ireland, formerly Channel Islands, introduced in Central Scotland, decreasing.
