Species Description
Widespread but local throughout England North to Yorkshire; scattered elsewhere. Habitat includes: Places with calcareous to eutrophic water 0.5 - 2 m deep; such as lakes, ponds, slowly-flowing rivers, canals, large fenland ditches, Dykes, rhynes etc. Growing habit: Rhizomatous Perennial. Height: Up to 1.5 m. Flowers: June to September. Other names include: Yellow Floating Heart, Floating Heart, Dwarf Water-lily, Fringe, Fringed Buckbean, Small-yellow Water-lily, Water-fringe, Entire Marsh-wort.

Stems floating, to 1.5m; leaves ≤ about 12 x 10cm; pedicels ≤8cm; flowers 3-4cm across; 2n=54. Possibly native (presumably only where both pin and thrum exist); in ponds and slow rivers; fens of East Anglia and Thames basin, naturalised in scattered places elsewhere in British Isles North to Central Scotland.
