Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent throughout the UK. Habitat includes: Dry, infertile calcareous soils in places such as grassland, dry heaths, dunes, mires, flushes, short-sedge fen-meadows, outcrops, ledges of basic rock, road cuttings, quarry spoil, lead-mine debris etc. Other names include: Purging Flax, White Flax. Flowers: May to September. Growing habit: Annual / Biennial. It s in decline, particularly in the South due to loss of habitat.
