Species Description
Widespread but local in the southern half of the UK, scarce in the North. Habitat includes: dry grassy places on calcareous soil such as chalk / limestone downland, roadside verges, rough pasture, coasts, heaths, churchyards etc. Flowers: June to September. Growing habit: Perennial. Other names include: Fern-leaf Dropwort. Height: 20 - 50 cm. The name "dropwort" derives from the tubers that hang like drops from the root. It is in decline from its downland habitat.
