Species Description

Fairly common and widespread throughout the UK but less so in the North and East. Habitat includes: Damp, shaded, clay-rich soils in places such as shaded woodland, hedgerows, churchyards, stream sides, damp grassland, path-sides. Growing habit: Low spreading Evergreen Perennial. It can spread rapidly from stem fragments. Seed set is rare, and some clones may be sterile. Though it is native It often escapes from gardens especially in the North. Flowers: May to July. Height: Up to 5 cm. Other names include: Moneywort, Herb Two-pence, Two-penny Grass.
