Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent throughout the UK. Habitat includes: Disturbed places such as arable fields, allotments, spoil heaps, wasteland, roadside verges, tips etc. Archaeophyte. Growing habit: Annual / Biennial. Flowers: May to September. It has declined rapidly due to the use of selective herbicides. World distribution. European Southern-temperate distribution but is widely naturalised outside this range. It presumably evolved from other subspecies and spread as a weed of cultivation.
