Species Description
Common and widespread throughout the UK. Only native in Scotland and the far North of England. Habitat includes: heathland, gardens, parks (planted), cemeteries, woodland, hedgerows, road side verges etc. It is often planted for timber, but is also found in the Caledonian forest in the Scottish Highlands. Life span: Up to 700 years. Height: Up to 40 m. Flowers: May to June.
