Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent around cities throughout the UK. Habitat includes: woodland, scrub, hedgerows, rough grassland, gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, roadside verges, railway banks, walls, wasteland etc. A Fertile Hybrid between Tree Cotoneaster and Willow-leaved Cotoneaster. Growing habit: Semi-evergreen Shrub. Height: Up to 12 m. ID: Leaves >6 cm, with >7 pairs of lateral veins. Fruits 5 - 8 mm. Stones / berry = 2 - 3 (5). Chromosomes: 2n=34. First raised in 1928 and first recorded in the wild 1968.
