Species Description
Stace 4:
Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl - Trailing Forsythia.
Rambling shrub to 10m; apical internode of 1-year old stems hollow; leaves on current year's growth regularly ternate, with terminal leaflet resembling leaf of F. x intermedia; flowers fewer in clusters, pendent, pale yellow; (2n=24, 28). Neophyte-naturalised; common garden plant naturalised as for F. x intermedia; scattered in Britain North to Central Scotland, Isle of Man, County Waterford; China. Due to trailing habit, stems take root far more often than in F. x intermedia hence more readily become naturalised; probably under-recorded for latter.
