Species Description

Stace 4:

Rosa 'Hollandica' - Dutch Rose.

Differs from R. rugosa in lighter green, matt, scarcely bullate, hairy to sparsely hairy leaves; flowers 2-5 together, with dark or mauvish-red petals; and fruit shape and size (Fruit 0.8-1.5cm, usually longer than wide). Neophyte-naturalised; much used as root-stock, naturalised outside or relic in hedges and on roadsides and waste ground; throughout most of Britain, Isle of Man, County Waterword, Tyrone; garden origin.
