Species Description

Widespread but occasional throughout the UK except for parts of the Midlands to Northern England where it is common. Habitat includes: gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards (where it often escapes from cultivation), woodland, scrub, rough grassland, quarries, roadside verges, railway banks, cliffs, walls, pavements etc. Cultivated in Britain since 1900, recorded in the wild in 1965. Native to China. Has red berries.
