Species Description

Widespread and locally frequent throughout the UK, being most common just North of Manchester. It is absent from much of Scotland but it's probably under-recorded. Habitat includes: woodland, heaths (among Heather and Gorse) etc.

Found on a dry shaded bank underneath trees. Most likely Rubus sprengelii Weihe (Sprengel's Bramble) but looks quite like Rubus insectifolius Lefèvre & P.J. Müll. (Insect-leaved Bramble?) but leaf serrations aren't right. Also to Rubus longithyrsiger Lees ex Focke in leaf shape and serrations.
