Species Description
Widespread throughout England, scattered elsewhere. Habitat includes: Cool, damp places with a good supply of leaf litter such as woodland (especially ones with streams running through nearby), gardens, parks etc. Found close to the soil surface, on the underside of stones, dead wood or, leaf litter, moss etc. Diet: detritus such as decomposing leaves, moss etc. Length: Up to 4.5 mm. Virtually identical to Trichoniscus provisorius but this species usually inhabits drier, warmer places with well drained soils and the Females only grow up to about 3.5 mm in length.
