Species Description

Widespread and locally frequent throughout the UK. Habitat includes: grassland, scrub, heathland, moorland, downland, woodland rides, roadside verges, railway banks, wasteland etc. Life story: A day-flying moth. Food plant: Clovers, Black Medick, Lucerne, Common Bird’s-foot Trefoil and various grasses such as Cock’s-foot. Flight period: May to June. Wingspan: 25 - 30 mm.
