Species Description

Common and widespread throughout the South becoming more localised in the North. Habitat includes: gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, wasteland, roadside verges, scrub, hedgerows, woodland, coasts, rough pasture, field margins etc. Wingspan: 26 - 40 mm. Flight period: July to August. Life story: The larvae role up a leaf of its food plant in which to live then come out at night to feed. Diet: Nettles.
