Species Description

Common and widespread throughout the UK but most common to the South and West. Habitat includes: gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, wasteland, roadside verges, railway banks, meadows, grassland, scrub, woodland, fens, heathland etc. Diet: Larvae = Thistles. Flight period: June to August. Wingspan: 15 - 24 mm Dusk to night-flying but may be disturbed during the day.
