Species Description

Fairly common and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: Damp shady places such as gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, hedgerows, scrub, woodland, wasteland etc. Shell diameter: 9 mm. Seen: All year round. ID: Silky has a small umbilicus which is partly obscured by the lip where as Hairy has a bigger umbilicus. Silky is bigger (9 mm) than Hairy (6 mm). Silky is more conical or globular when looking from side on and Hairy is flatter. Silky is more densely haired when fresh.
