Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent throughout the UK. Locally it can be very common. Habitat includes: Wet places such as ponds, wetlands, marshes, ditches, wet hollows, dried up puddles etc. Length: 7 - 12 mm. Other names include: Lymnaea truncatula (old name). Seen: All year round. Life story: An amphibious species which can be seen far away from water bodies as long as it stays damp. It is the main vector of the liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica).
