Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent in the South, scarce in the North. Habitat includes: wetlands, wasteland, scrubby grassland, woodland, hedgerows etc. Life story: The rat-tailed larvae develop in the wet mud of pools, ditches and other water margins. Flight period: April to October (peaks in June). Diet: Pollen and Nectar from Umbellifers, Brambles.
