Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent throughout the UK, though mainly in the South. Habitat includes: damp places with Thistles such as meadows, grassland, wasteland, woodland rides etc. Flight period: March to May, peaking in late March to early April. Diet: Adults: flowers of sallows/willows, Blackthorn, Colt's-foot, dandelions, Larvae feed on the inside of various Thistle stems (especially Spear Thistle).
