Species Description
Locally common and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: Moist, well-drained, slightly acidic shaded sites in places such as woodland, stream banks, hedge-banks, moorland etc. Growing habit: Perennial. Height: Up to 30 cm. Flowers: April to June.

Differs from L. forsteri in leaves obtuse to truncate at apex (with minute point in L. forsteri); tepals subacute to shortly acuminate; 2n=62, 66. Native; woods, hedgerows, among heather on moors; common throughout most of Britain, local in Ireland.
