Species Description
Common and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: Damp grassland, wet meadows, dune slacks, marshes, saltmarshes, swamps, fens, pond / lake margins, streams, rivers, ditches etc. Growing habit: Rhizomatous Perennial. Up to 75 cm. Flowers: May to July. Other names include: Creeping spike-rush, Marsh spike-rush. 2 subspecies: ssp. palustris (microarpa), ssp. waltersii (vulgaris).
