Species Description

Widespread and scattered throughout the UK. Widely grown in gardens and often escapes or thrown out.

Stace 4:

Pseudosasa japonica (Siebold & Zucc. ex Steud.) Makino ex Nakai (Arundinaria japonica Siebold & Zucc. ex Steud.) - Arrow Bamboo.

Stems 2.5-5m, 1-2cm thick; leaves 15-30 x 2-4cm; (2n=48). Neophyte-naturalised; frequent throughout most of British Isles, easily the commonest grown and naturalised bamboo, still sometimes flowers; Japan and Korea.
