Species Description
Widespread and locally frequent throughout the UK. Habitat includes: wet marshy places such as ponds, ditches, rhynes, streams, canals, marshes etc. Life story: A parasitoid of Amber Snails (Succineidae). Females lay a single egg on the shell of the host. Upon hatching the larvae will burrow underneath the shell and consuming the host until it's ready to pupate. Flight period: All year round but mainly April to October. Length: 4 - 5 mm.
