Species Description
Widespread and locally common throughout the Southern half of England and Eastern Wales. There is one record in N. Ireland. Habitat includes: Flower-rich places such as meadows, hedgerows, scrub, woodland rides, gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, roadside verges, wasteland etc. Length 3.5 to 5 mm. Life story: Possibly a parasite of Shield Bugs. Diet: Larvae = Shield Bugs, Adult = Nectar and pollen from a wide range of flowers including: Ox-eye Daisy, Daisy, Rough Chervil, Meadow Buttercup (appears to be its favourite).
