Species Description
Common and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: Anywhere with carrion but prefers shaded places such as gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, woodland, scrub, hedgerows, farmland etc. Flight period April to October but can be seen all year round. Life story: A detritus feeder who's larvae feed on decaying organic matter, especially carrion.
