Species Description

Widespread and fairly frequent throughout the UK. Habitat includes: woodland, scrub etc. Life story: breeds in manure. Flight period: Spring to Autumn. Length: 7 to 8 mm. ID: - reddish scutellum tip - discal vein turns up to narrow the first posterior cell at the top - top of the first posterior cell is especially narrow - Orange 3rd antennal segment base - Orange palps
