Species Description
Fairly frequent and widespread throughout the UK. Habitat includes: gardens, parks, allotments, cemeteries, woodland rides hedgerows, road side verges, scrub etc. Adult feeds on pollen and nectar, sometimes on the substrate of rotten plants. Females lay eggs individually on rotting plants the larvae then overwinter and pupate in spring. Flight period: Summer.
