Species Description
Widespread and locally common in the Southern half of the UK, becoming scarce in the North. Habitat includes: Water bodies with emergent vegetation such as ponds, lakes, reservoirs, ditches, canals etc. Life story: The larvae attack aquatic snails and adults scavenge dead insects including dragonflies.
