Widespread and locally common in the Southern half of the UK and increasing its range further North. Habitat includes: Large, well vegetated ponds, lakes, slow moving rivers, canals etc. Other names include: Blue emperor. Length: 78 mm (Britain's largest dragonfly). Flight period: June to August.
