Species Description
Widespread and locally frequent throughout England, Wales and Southern Scotland. Habitat includes: Places with shallow, still water such as ponds, the edges of lakes, slow moving rivers / streams, dykes etc. Flight period: Late May to Early August. Life story: Nymphs take 1 - 3 years to develop and lay partially buried in the bottom mud. It is quick to colonise new water sources and the larvae can survive in ones which temporarily dry up.
