Species Description
Widespread throughout the southern half of the UK. Most common in the south-east. Habitat includes: tall dry grassy places such as grassland, meadows, sand dunes, coast, roadside verges, wasteland etc. Life story: one generation per year with eggs being laid from spring to early summer and the new generation of adults occurring from August. Diet: Larvae feed on developing seeds from a variety of grasses. Length: 8 - 9 mm. Seen all year round.
