Species Description
Widespread and local in the South, being concentrated in the South East. It is spreading. Habitat includes: Dry grassy places such as meadows, coasts, limestone / chalk downland wasteland etc. Seen: All year round. Length: 7 - 8 mm.
Confusion species:
Stictopleurus punctatonervosus from which it is told by having 'full circles' (not half circles) on the pronotum behind the eyes, punctations absent and appearing smooth on the band in front (not with punctations continuing as in S. punctatonervosus). It is overall generally a lighter species than S. punctatonervosus with dot markings on the margins smaller, distinctly separated and rounded in shape. Also the antenna's final segment is a distinctly different colour to the rest and often reddish-brown (more or less the same colour as the rest but slightly darker in S. punctatonervosus).
