Species Description

Widespread and fairly frequent in the South; scarcer in the North but very under-recorded. Habitat includes: Anywhere with Willows (Salix's) such as ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, canals, ditches, dykes, rhynes, gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, roadside verges, coasts, wasteland, hedgerows, woodland, scrub etc. Life story: Reproduces entirely asexually. Length: 5 - 5.8 mm. Other names include: Large Willow Bark Aphid.
