Species Description
A recent colonist first recorded in Britain in 1922 (Rye, East Sussex). It is Widespread and fairly frequent in the South East but is spreading North and West. Habitat includes: rough grassland, heathland, wasteland, roadside verges etc. Length: Up to 15 mm (Females). Life story: Females spin webs low down in the vegetation with orbs reaching up to 30 cm in diameter; designed for catching mainly Grasshoppers and Crickets but also other invertebrates. Seen: April to October.
