Species Description
Widespread but local throughout the UK especially around Gloucester, the Midlands and East Anglia; much scarcer in the North. Habitat includes: Low, dry vegetation in places such as rough grassland, scrub, field margins, scrub, woodland rides and edges etc. Adults seen: Late spring to Mid-summer (peaks: May to June). Length: 3 mm. Life story: Webs are spun in the tops of strong supporting plants such as the old heads of Umbellifer's, Dock's, Thistle's, St John's-wort's. The spider often goes for oversized prey, by biting it in the leg until dead.
