Species Description
Widespread and locally common in Wales and the Western half of England; rare elsewhere. Habitat includes: Under stones, logs and amongst leaf-litter in places such as woodland, moorland, scrubby heathland etc. Life story: Female lay eggs in a tube-shaped web and the spiderlings stay with their mother once hatched, feeding on the same prey. At the end of the season the mother dies and is eaten by her offspring. Length: Female = 9 - 12 mm, Male = 7 - 9 mm.
