Captain A.M. Jones

Captain Arthur M. Jones, based in Clifton, was an avid fern enthusiast, illustrator and treasurer of the West of England Pteridological Society - founded in the early 1870s. He produced a number of series of fern illustrations between 1876-1880 for the society, titled 'Nature-printed Impressions of the Varieties of the British Species of Ferns' but known generally as 'Jones' Nature Prints'. Between 300 and 400 varieties were figured.
