Species Description

Stace 4:

Pimpinella major (L.) Huds. - Greater Burnet-saxifrage.

Stems erect, to 1(2)m, more or less glabrous; basal leaves simply pinnate, with ovate, serrate leaflets; fruits 3-4mm; (2n=20). Native; grassland, hedgerows, wood-boarders; locally common in Central, East, South East & South West England and South & West Central Ireland, rare casual in Wales and Scotland, very rare in Guernsey.
