Species Description
Widespread but uncommon throughout the UK except the South East. Habitat includes: Short grassy and stony places such as rough pasture, grassy hill-slopes, banks, mountain flushes, woodland edge / rides, roadside verges, superficial clay-with-flints, chalk downland (ssp. vestita); calcareous / neutral grassland, grass-heath, lowland pasture, hill-slopes, banks, flushes, rock outcrops, mountain ledges (basic rock) etc. (ssp. filicaulis). There are 2 subspecies: A. filicaulis ssp. filicaulis, A. filicaulis ssp. vestita. Flowers: June to September. Perennial.
