Species Description
Common and widespread throughout the UK except for the far North of Scotland and parts of Eastern England. Habitat includes: rough grassland, hay meadows, pastures, field margins, sand dunes, roadside verges, railway banks, wasteland etc. Other names include: Jack go to bed at Noon (they only open in the morning and close by Noon), Meadow Salsify, Showy Goat's-beard, Meadow goat's-beard. Height: Up to 76 cm. Flowers: June to July. Growing habit: Annual / Short-lived Perennial.
