Ssp. sanguinea.

Hairs on leaf abaxial surface mostly 2-armed but many unevenly so and many with atleast 1 arm directed away from leaf surface; 2n=22. Native; woods and scrub on limestone or base-rich clays; common in most of South & Central lowland Britain, very scattered in Ireland, escape elsewhere.
