Species Description

Very rare historically only exists in Box Hill in Surrey but is now expanding its range in all directions especially in the South-East of England. Habitat includes woodland, hedgerows, gardens, allotments, churchyards, orchards, roadside verges. where it exploits various shrubs and trees as food plants including Box, common and Midland hawthorn, Purging, Alder and sea buckthorn, Yew, plum family e.g. Blackthorn.
