Species Description
Scattered and scarce in the south; most concentrated in the London area. Habitat includes: grassland, open scrub, field margins etc. Usually associated with clay soils where the ground cracks in summer. Formerly misidentified as Oliarus panzeri (now Reptalus panzeri) from the continent. Adults seen: June to August. Length: 4.5 - 7 mm. Differs from the similar Pentastiridius leporinus in its vertex being wider than long (longer than wide in Pentastiridius leporinus) and also its different habitat preference (saltmarsh in Pentastiridius leporinus).
