Species Description
Widespread and fairly frequent throughout the UK but poorly recorded. This species has a worldwide distribution. Habitat includes: gardens, parks, allotments, churchyards, lane-sides, hedgerows, scrub, field margins etc. Life story: A thelytokous species (females can reproduce female-only eggs without fertilisation and males are rarely encountered) which parasitises a range of mainly aphidophagous hoverflies. Flight period: May to September. Length: 7 mm. Sometimes called the Common Hover Fly Parasitoid Wasp.
